The Practice
concrete, immediate
01
Neti Neti
You don't find the bug by searching for the bug. You find it by eliminating everything it's not.
read
02
Dharma
The real contract is what your callers rest on. Hold it, and reach no further.
read
03
Three Realities
Production is the only reality. Local dev and staging are useful fictions.
read
04
Jnana
You don't know a system until you've operated it under load and failure. Docs are knowledge about it; on-call is knowledge of it.

The Design
structural
05
Karma
State is a story, not a snapshot. You don't overwrite the past, you append to it.
read
06
Samsara & Moksha
Getting faster at recovery is getting better at samsara. You break the cycle by removing the cause, not by resolving it faster.
read
07
Adhyasa
A wrong abstraction is a snake seen on a rope: convincing, consequential, and not there. You do not fix it by drawing a better snake; you remove it and look at the rope.
read
08
Atman = Brahman
In a coherent system, one law runs at every scale, so you can read the whole architecture from a single well-made part. Where you cannot, there is no unifying law, only layers glued together.
read
The Ground
metaphysical
09
Maya
A model is a measurement of the system, not the system. A correct map stays useful and stays blind past the edge you measured, so you keep it and never take it for the ground.
read
10
Vivarta
The running process is the source in motion. You can trace a failure back to its cause exactly as far as the transformations between them stayed reversible.
read
11
Non-Dualism
The system is one causal graph. The service boundary is a convention you drew, not a law.
read
12
Synthesis
There were never twelve principles. One recognition keeps returning through them: the boundary is a name you drew, and the ground it hid appears only when you take the name away.
